Jesse A.'s Review of Therm-a-Rest RidgeRest SOLite Sleep Pad Irregular

Like others, I can't even find a blemish that would make this pad "irregular". These tend to get a little beat up when strapped to packs or jammed into trunks anyway, so why pay more for a "perfect" one that will look the same after a few uses?

A Ridge Rest works great under an inflatable pad for cold-weather camping and sleeping on frozen ground. It's a very minimal pad to be used by itself, but they work great for kids.

They are bulky to pack and transport. The folding model, the Z-Lite, does that better, but those tend to tear at the folds after a lot of use. The regular Ridge Rest seems to achieve slightly more "plushness" for its weight compared to the Z-Lite.
Pros:
  • Durable for a foam pad
  • Makes a great 2nd pad
Cons:
  • Bulky to pack and transport
  • Barely adequate when used alone
Best Used for:
  • Under an inflatable pad
  • Kids
