Nice, Practical;

by Aleksandre Rosebashvili, Verified Owner from Georgia Written on December 11, 2020
i have been using this little pad for about a year now, practical, very lite, useful in any condition in any place, snow, rain, normal day... only downside i see it can be destroyed and torn up if not careful... by pulling or squezing it back, or can be torn by overly too sharp rock. after a 1 year of active use, new one could be a good idea for at least for me. otherwise happy with the product.... protects my butt and 80 grams only... hiking, backpacking cycling mountain biking . can be taken anywhere..
Pros:
  • Lite weight
  • practical
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • HIKING
  • mountain biking
  • tracking
  • Backpacking (multiple days)

Updated version

by Brian, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on October 24, 2020
This updated version gets a color change and a new closure. These pads are great multifunctional gear - obviously for sitting or kneeling while at camp, but also as a fire fan, a wind block for your stove, a landing spot for your feet getting in/out of your tent/hammock, a dry spot to put your pack while on the trail. These are perfect for breaks on a day hike too.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • insulation
Cons:
  • NONE
Best Used for:
  • Backpacking
  • Day hike

Worth its weight in gold

by Tom, Verified Owner from MD, United States Written on September 29, 2020
Most backpacking chairs are around 2 pounds, which is more weight than I want to carry on a lot of my trips. While this pad isn't as comfortable as those chairs, the comfort to weight ratio is insanely high. Putting this on a rock, log, or bench vastly improves the comfort (even more so if the object is wet or cold). I wouldn't bother setting up my collapsable backpacking chair for a 5 minute rest, but it's a no brainer to unfold this thing. As an extra bonus, you can use it to boost the insulation and padding of your sleeping pad if you have a particular pressure point (like your hips or knees). Or if your inflatable sleeping pad won't hold air, it can be part of an improvised solution.

Of course, it doesn't provide back support like a collapsable chair would, but if you're going to be hiking more than you're resting, it's a worthwhile trade off. When I backpack to a basecamp, I bring the collapsable chair; any other time, I bring this.
Pros:
  • Comfortable
  • Light
  • Ultralight
Cons:
  • None

Light, comfortable, multi-purpose

by Tom, Verified Owner from MD, United States Written on October 14, 2019
This sit pad isn't complicated or fancy, but it's perfect. It's so light that it's a no-brainer to bring along, even when you're trying to cut weight in your pack. If you backpack where there are generally rocks or logs to sit on, this turns any rock or log of the right size into a comfortable seat. As a bonus, it also makes a nice kneeling pad if you're tending a backpack stove on the ground or if you're building a campfire.

The worst thing that you can say about it is that it's kind of bulky in your pack (although it's still smaller than other backpacking seats that I've seen). But the foam folds nicely onto itself and has a little elastic cord to keep it folded, so it's hard to imagine it getting any smaller. Since it's just foam, you can put it on the outside of the pack without worrying about it getting damaged.
Pros:
  • Multi Use
  • Lightweight
  • inexpensive
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • Backpacking

I love this seat, I take it with me to all backcountry trips and find it super helpful - always at hand and comfy. It's also very sturdy and resistant so I don't have to worry about destroying it. Definitely recommend this seat!

Thermarest Z-Seat

It is really light and warm. I think I will use it well while trekking. I recommend buying a new product and using it as a cushion rather than cutting out the existing mat.The price is so low that we have a chance to buy it now.

Therma-Rest Z-Seat

by Kurt, from TN, United States Written on November 28, 2018
I love it. I bought this pad as sort of a porch for my tent when getting in and out of it. So that I can get out of the tent shoeless. But as I found, I use it for a million other things, such as sitting my pack on in wet environments, using it to sit down on I’m wet environments, and also as a layer of protective padding for my laptop in my day pack. It’s an awesome idea and also a high quality foam.
Pros:
  • Versatility, price, weight, quality
Cons:
  • NONE
Best Used for:
  • Backpacking, Hiking
