Let me start by saying: I'm female, 5'3", ~195lbs, and a very cold sleeper (cold feet , shoulders, hips, the works). My partner and I like to sleep near water for easy access and we're very good about avoiding condensation. He sleeps warm and uses some down bag given to me secondhand that I was too short for and a thin inflatable thermarest pad. I use a Big Agnes Two Track inflatable CCF hybrid pad (R value of 5.5 - below freezing).
That being said: I wanted this roomy bag because I roll over a lot and I wanted a hoodless bag so I didn't get suffocated in the middle of the night when I rolled on it. I thought this bag would be perfect, but I couldn't be more wrong. The drafts coming from the zipper were shocking because there's supposedly a draft blocking piece, and there is absolutely no way to close the top portion of the bag so cold air rushed in unless I held it all shut and clenched it in my fists all night. After trying desperately for about an hour or two my partner asked if I wanted to go home because I couldn't make it through the night. I powered through for a few more hours until we ended up switching bags so I could try to not ruin our trip. This worked, but just barely, and when he tried to sleep in this bag, even he had trouble. The kicker? It wasn't even 35 degrees out. This bag is rated to 15 degrees....this can't be just some error in the rating because that is 20 degrees where at least a warm sleeper like my partner would be comfortable. It wasn't like I sl...
