My scout prefers these over hot, heavy boots for long hikes. They have roomy toe boxes and the heels aren't overly wide. They are also cooler than boots, which is good for someone with hot, sweaty feet.

Love the design with medium width and extra toe room. Been needing a shoe designed like this for many years. Solid feeling yet has comfort and love the sole that's readily usable for walking and trail running and some road running if needed. I made sure to try on some topos and talk to the company about lasts and sizing before ordering. Shoes were delivered and very disappointed with quality and consistency. The shoe was about a full size too small and had numerous defects. The heels and heel collars were twisted and messed up where the wording was severely crooked. Also the collar was only slightly higher on the inside heel of one shoe than the outside, then opposite on the other shoe where the inside heel was severely lower than the outside. Not sure what topo tries to do, but the outside heel should be lower if anything because a persons heel bone is lower on the outside. Had another pair of topos but different style which had similar issues and the left and right shoe were actually different sizes too. There is potential here but seems like they don't quality control there shoes properly causing customers wasted time and aggravation. Total of three different pairs of same size topos from two different online retailers that all were returned. Went with another brand.
Pros:
- Solid feeling, nice soles, lower drop, extra big toe room
Cons:
- Length size problems, quality control issues
Best Used for:
- Light and medium trail walking and running, general everyday use as well

I really like these shoes. They have almost as much toe room as the Altra Lone Peaks but are narrower and fit my feet much better. I have not had them long so don't know about the durability yet but they look well built. I would like a bit more cushion in the soles. I think the Topo Athletic Ultraventure has more of that.

These are great trail shoes that are a bit lighter than most but last longer. I like the wide toe box and the stable ride. I'm not a fan of the no-rise shoes, so the few mm I get from these feels just about perfect.

I haven't even used these yet for running but they are VERY comfortable wearing all day at work and around town. Lots of cushion, great fit in the heel and a roomy toe box. Really happy with them!
