Juris1142's Review of Trangia 25-2 Ultralight Outdoor Stove

Like:
-How pots, kittle, and burner all nest together
-Have made bread, brownies, and pancakes (the non-stick lid works great for this) for my wife and our two daughters
-Simmer ring allows easy adjustment of flame, and can keep things simmering or just hot
-It is quiet, when car camping (daughters prefer at least outdoor toilets); can boil water, make meals late at night, or fix coffee early in the morning without disturbing them (at least from the noise of a stove)
-Easy source of fuel; I buy denatured alcohol from hardware store; others use Heet but I have not tried it
-I have have two Trangia Bottles that I have stored alcohol in and used for over 20 years
-Don't have propane or Isobutane bottles to throw away (I finally, after many years purchased the Trangia X2 burner made by Primus and use Coleman fuel with it, although, it is not necessary, it is nice to have another option besides throw away bottles, of course I do have that big can to dispose of eventually)
-No moving parts, easy maintenance
-Another plus, I like to soak cotton balls with the alcohol to start fires
THE DOWNSIDE:
-May be hard to find bottles that denatured alcohol can be stored; however, if you are like me and get the Trangia Alcohol bottles, they will last for many years(I guess if they are dropped on a rock, the spout system could break but spare parts are available; gaskets rarlely need changed/replaced
-May take 10+ minutes to bring water to a rolling boil but I do not care, I am so tired of rushing, it is nice to slow down
-The fuels are not the best to breathe or get on your skin. This is a health concern
-If you knock this fuel over, it will continue to burn and catch things on fire; certainly you do not want this to happen to you, the kids, or the dog
-Size, space, weight, boiling and cooking time will be an issue for some, especially if used for backpacking, and not for canoe, or car/tent camping, but to me it is worth it; however, it may not be right for you
