wanting titanium or copper

by KarlosJ83, Gear Expert from UT, United States Written on September 10, 2011
the trangia is well built just like to see it built out of copper or titianium. I would pay more.
Most Helpful Positive Review Kitchen in a bag
After using the famed Trangia burner for several years with various 1-quart pots and improvised pot stands, I took the plunge and bought a full-blown Stormcooker and never looked back. Got the 25 rather than the 27 due to its extra capacity, which is perfect for up to 3 people and can make do for 4. It's only slightly larger and heavier than the 27. But what you get is a complete kit: pots, pans, rock-stable pot support/windscreen, burner and pot grabber. At 2 pounds for all that, it compares well with other cookset/stove combinations of similar capacity once you add in the weight of everythin...

25-4

by Juris1142, from WV, United States Written on May 22, 2017
Like:
-How pots, kittle, and burner all nest together
-Have made bread, brownies, and pancakes (the non-stick lid works great for this) for my wife and our two daughters
-Simmer ring allows easy adjustment of flame, and can keep things simmering or just hot
-It is quiet, when car camping (daughters prefer at least outdoor toilets); can boil water, make meals late at night, or fix coffee early in the morning without disturbing them (at least from the noise of a stove)
-Easy source of fuel; I buy denatured alcohol from hardware store; others use Heet but I have not tried it
-I have have two Trangia Bottles that I have stored alcohol in and used for over 20 years
-Don't have propane or Isobutane bottles to throw away (I finally, after many years purchased the Trangia X2 burner made by Primus and use Coleman fuel with it, although, it is not necessary, it is nice to have another option besides throw away bottles, of course I do have that big can to dispose of eventually)
-No moving parts, easy maintenance
-Another plus, I like to soak cotton balls with the alcohol to start fires
THE DOWNSIDE:
-May be hard to find bottles that denatured alcohol can be stored; however, if you are like me and get the Trangia Alcohol bottles, they will last for many years(I guess if they are dropped on a rock, the spout system could break but spare parts are available; gaskets rarlely need changed/replaced
-May take 10+ minutes to bring water to a rolling boil but I do not care, I am so tired of rus...

Love it but disappointed..

by Mike M., from AZ, United States Written on January 25, 2017
Great cookset, great setup, nonstick pretty good, and it works well. I love cooking with alcohol stoves and this all inclusive setup is pretty slick. I am marking it down a star for construction. First some of the pans had dents in them. Its not gonna affect functionality but should not be there in a new product. Two, the aluminum pots holder had sharp metal burs on them. Not only could they cut you, but it could scratch the non-stick coating. About 10 minutes of steel wool over it smoothed it out just fine. Lastly I wish the pans had measuring marks on them, would not take much to do that. Don't get me wrong I like the set, but for the price, a little quality control should have been there.

25-2 Trangia

by James B., Verified Owner from New Zealand Written on September 24, 2016
This is the second time I have bought this model, the first being 30 years ago. I gave that one to a family member. A change of heart saw me buy again. This version is lighter than the first and has the option of using various other attachments for fuel.
However, the beauty of this stove has always been its simplicity. It always works. It is absolutely wind proof. It is stable and is the only stove that I have ever dared to use in a tent, as the outside shell does not get hot enough to melt anything. Not that I recommend the practice.
In cold conditions it can be hard to persuade meths to light. I recommend filling the burner, putting the lid back on, and putting it in your armpit for five minutes to get it vapourising. It would be interesting to see how the cold weather attachment works as it too uses meths. Perhaps a chip of solid fuel.
I bought the basic non anodised model as I have a fear of coatings cracking. At least the bare metal stays the same regardless.
The fuel bottle and the cutting board are inventions of sheer genius.
I would recommend these stoves for school camps outings. Kids can wreck anything, of course, but they are not going to blow themselves up with this stove, and it is very easy to repair or get replacement parts.

Versatility is it's name

by Dan M., from MO, United States Written on February 8, 2016
Great car camping cook set. I have both the Trangia Spirit stove and to Primus Iso-Butane burner adapter to give me more versatility in controlling the temp when making coffee, baking and big breakfast. I have an Esbit stove stand with another Esbit/Trangia type stove for when less temp control is needed and a DIY Fancy Feast stove to melt snow are get things warm quickly. Works really well and you can never have to many stoves. ;-)

22 years use so far and 22 to come!

by geoff, from MA, United States Written on November 21, 2015
The classic. We've used this as our go-to stove for 22 years - summer, winter, rain or shine. Never fails; impossible to break it, robust as a tank. Design hasn't changed - why should it? If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

And fuel (regular denatured alcohol from the hw store) costs next to nothing.

The only downside is that Alcohol is slightly less efficient weight wise, so this does not make the lightest option out there, but for most uses, it's a winner.

We love this stove!

by DeVerter, from OR, United States Written on August 23, 2014
We pretty much have taken this stove everywhere since I purchased it. Hiking, camping, beach days. I wanted to purchase something that was reliable, runs on easy to find fuel, quiet, and came with a few pots and pans (were in need of a new set) and this set was perfect. We are two people but eat more like 3 or 4 so chose the bigger pot and pan set :)

We have made everything from fresh Dungeness c
