I actually got this in the thoughts of trying toprope solos, and i must say i’ve done 3 vlimbs and it feed so smoothly, really happy with this product and i would recommend it for sny purpose, the descending tho is a little bit trickh to get smooth but once you get the hang of it it’s a breeze!
Pros:
- Easy to use
- Light & awesome design
- Works for toprope solos

Vergo feels different than Cinch, which I've used in a Yoyo RADS system for several years. Its smaller, but works the same, essentially. Given that it has replaced the Cinch, its a top notch dual purpose ascend/descend device. I tested it on the ground tied to a tree trunk and really gave some violent jerks(I weigh 175 lbs) and got very small movement in the delay to grab(1 inch at most). I climb mostly 70-100 ft tall Ponderosa Pines in the West, use 2-lanyard system to advance above my first TIP. Ascending some of these trees is like caving, straight up with no contact to tree to the TIP. The question to answer is whether to trust Vergo and not add a prusik adding that I use a Petzyl ascender and foot loops to advance. I used Cinch without added grab of any kind with same setup. Nice feel to this smaller ver. Very good price at Campsaver as usual.
Best Used for:
- dual purpose up/down movement
