I wore this pack in a 100k distance race. Bought to carry an extra bottle that I couldn’t carry in my pack. This allowed me to have extra water hands free. I found that I could stuff some extra batteries and a few very small items in large back pocket, but I found with my bike bottle,in bottle holder section it was hard to put much more in pocket. I bought this particular pack because my 12 oz bike bottle fit well. I even put a 20 oz one in there. It was a little too heavy then but would do in a pinch. I adjusted the straps so the bottle went in on an angle with lixit end of bottle higher by tightening that strap tighter. I had strap where base of bottle was realL loose and it seemed to hold bottle securely. I did try one bottle that leaked a little from lixit and not a good match. I managed to get the bottle out pretty easily by pushing it out with one hand while grabbing it with other and reaching through to grab bottle and guide it back in. I found during first 50 mikes it felt very comfortable and not tight. My stomach can get sensitive in races and after that it felt alittle tight and loosening didn’t help since the bottle pulled it tight to my waist still as the looseness went more to the back. I hardly even knew it was there before that though and my stomach does get sensitive after 50 mikes. And don’t like even tying things around my waist.
