I had the misfortune of using this "ax" on a backpacking trip because I left my estwing campers ax at home mistakenly in my rush to get on the trail before sundown. my former friend (just kidding I forgave him, lol) said we could just use this "great" lightweight ax of his instead of driving back 5 min to my place to grab my ax (hindsight, had we only known how cold we were about to be). First of all it is too small to cut anything too big to be broken with your hands, second the edge was as dull as a dinner knife, and third it was too dull to cut 550 paracord without resulting to chopping. I think its only real purpose is as a toy used to throw at a tree or target for fun but then again the thin plastic handle would likely break off, so....I don't know of any real purpose but to separate suckers from their money. Do yourself a favor and buy a real ax and get strong enough to carry it backpacking.
