Pay particular attention to the description that you cannot maintain it in the field. That means if you clog it, it's toast, or you are pretty much restricted to using it in clear water, which is not always available. I got my sample a smell of amines running out from the filter. Yes I know this smell because I worked with such chemicals in my laboratory. I feel it is coming from the filter rather that the bag.
Have tried to leach it out with warm water but still find a hint of the taste after 10 fills. I wonder if I need another carbon after-filter to eliminate the after-taste.

Suprised at "Gear of the Year" award
I'm a long distance back-country runner. I want a way to refill my water bottles. Options are a battery powered Steri-pen, a heavy or bulky pump, iodine tablets, or something like this product that is light weight and can ideally quickly refill my water bottles at a creek or lake. Unfortunately, it takes a while to fill a water bottle by this method. Squeezing the water out takes a long time and

Bought to use in Ireland for my girlfriend. Cheaper than buying bottled water and can be used anywhere there. Not sure on the quality of their water so we are taking precautions. She got sick in Italy drinking tap water.
