I just love this little stove. The Vargo converter stove fits nice and tight in the Vargo Titanium Hexagon Stove. That I use as a light wind guard and keep the flames up off the ground. When I go backpacking the Converter Stove has been great for heating up my water for tea and dry meals that you just and water or fast frying for lunch breaks. Does take time to heat up the water, but I"m in no rush. Plus, the Converter stove is quite, just hear the sounds around you. The Converter Stove is Super light and easy to use. With the Vargo Titanium Hexagon Stove and the Vargo Converter Stove, you need to carry less fuel and go longer. With the Vargo pots, the cooking ideas are almost endless.

After using the Vargo Titanium Converter Stove for the last month, in tandem with the Vargo Hexagon Wood Stove as a support system, I have found a perfect combination for using a light outfit that can be used with confidence. The Converter Stove does need to be primed in order to light quickly and save fuel. For priming the stove, when used with the Hexagon Wood stove, I use an empty “tea light” aluminum cup with 5 drops of denatured alcohol placed in the cup under the converter stove, through the Franklin door of the Hexagon stove. The preheating is just enough to allow the converter stove to reach a full bloom in less than a minute. This approach has been used just to boil 3 cups of water in the Vargo titanium 700 ml cup. Boil time takes a little over 7 minutes and uses about 1 ounce of denatured alcohol. Using gloves, I can remove the Converter stove from the Hexagon Wood Stove and recover the remaining fuel with the use of a small funnel. I still use a windscreen with this set-up for fuel efficiency and heat retention. I highly recommend this set-up for boiling water for a meal or tea on day hikes or short excursions and as a backup to using primarily wood on the trail.
