Solo-Tandem
I purchased this at Campsaver and definitely received and outstanding deal. I wanted a a canoe that I could solo 80% and tandem 20%. Unfortunately I can't get the wife out much, but that is another story.....just saying. As far as build quality, I would say excellent. There were a couple scratches when I unwrapped it, and some off coloring at the bow & keel, but I write that off to the normal process that happens in the mold with the gelcoat; a little thin in those areas. Recommend Wenonah increase their quality control: there were a lot a aluminum shavings throughout the boat....shopvac Wenonah?!?
It is a little long & heavy for a pure solo canoe, but I can deal with it. The length does provide a smooth, fast ride, and it glides through the water well. I am kneeling when I do solo travel, so it is pretty stable for me. As far as tandem, there is nothing really to complain about. The initial stability is tippy, but secondary stability is solid. It is a little harder to turn because the lack of rocker, but nothing crazy. Definitely don't get this boat if you are worried about scratching the bottom, or paddle in shallow rocky streams.
It does take a little extra care, but overall I am quite pleased. I use a tailgate extender for my truck, and it travels well.
