Slick jacket

by MS, from CA, United States Written on May 5, 2014
I just got the package from CampSaver with this jacket so I don't have any experience with it yet.

What I've noticed:

- eVent fabric feels very different than Gore Tex. eVent is thicker than Gore Tex Active though. eVent seems lighter than Gore Tex, and perhaps not as robust but I've yet to try it out. I did notice that backside of the arms from elbow to wrist of this jacket is made of a differe

PERFECT

by Sandy, from Canada Written on May 5, 2014
I had an older generation and it started to delaminate- maybe as a result of being in the dryer for too long at a temperature that was too hot. I am very careful with this one, trying not to damage it the same way. Although I do still put it in the dryer to get the DWR working its best. Slightly less hot, and WAY less time. It's crazy how fast it dries.

Does what it says, but....

This rain jacket did what it is supposed to, but I found the hood to be too much - no place to put hood when it was not needed.

Well made light weight jacket

by Ric, Written on December 12, 2013
The Westcomb Specter is well made, displaying excellent workmanship. The design is more of a casual style jacket that is suitable for day-to-day urban use. It is very light weight. However, when folded, it still take up a it of room in my bag. Small details of this jacket are excellent and you can clearly see the Design Team wants this jacket to be completely waterproof. I am a big fan of eVent fa

If you have a large chest and arms the jacket is a bit snug. I can't ware heavier shirts under the jacket. Otherwise it is great.

great light shell

I have tested a bunch of waterproof fabrics including gortex, paclite, hyvent, pertex...tried on a bunch of jackets from makers arcteryx, patagonia, marmot, tnf...and think that this jacket stands out for 3 reasons: 1. eVent - it really does vent better. 2. light weight/durability - around 10oz with reinforced elbows. 3. great hood design - this thing really synches down to keep the elements out.

Very happy so far - as expected

by BrettPDX, from OR, United States Written on June 15, 2013
I have only had this jacket for a month, and I have been in only one heavy downpour (a midwestern thunderstorm) so far. However, I am very happy with this jacket. The hood is awesome and very adjustable. It is large and tall so that it does not pull down on my (large! :-) head. This jacket seems breathable and not stuffy so far. The styling is great and the fit seems standard - it has plenty
