Reviews & Ratings for Western Mountaineering Flash Vest - Men's

This generously down filled vest, which packs some serious warmth, is the most versatile down piece I own. Paired with ultra lightweight down jackets like the MW Ghost Whisperer or Himali Accelerator, which work well by themselves in the 40s, this vest (worn either over or under) will boost one's warmth considerably without adding hardly any weight or bulk. If I'm out in a cold 35-40 degree rain, I wear the Flash Vest under my rain jacket for waterproof warmth. The low cut collar ensures that no part of the vest contacts the rain. Finally, if it's so cold that my serious down jackets are pushing their limit (think sub-zero) this little vest can help them go 10-20 degrees colder with no problem.
Western Mountaineering really hit the sweet spot with this featherweight yet lofty vest. I have the Flash Pants too, which are equally amazing.
