Very large flame, needs fireproof base - White Box Next Generation Alcohol Stove

We got this as a second cooking source in addition to our Trangia 27 set. Its a beautiful design and very light and fit great into an unused corner of the Trangia bag. we were shocked that the flames are really huge, more than we are used to and too much for our little cookset. Plus there's no clear way to extinguish the flame - you just have to let it burn out, so you have to be prepared with pots of water you need to boil or fill it to burn only for the time needed. This is a different way to cook from the Trangia, which comes with a simmer ring which can extinguish the flames. The White Box Stove is perfect for boiling a lot of water quickly but we will use the Trangia for all other [more controlled] cooking. Doesn't come with the little square of aluminum for the base anymore, so be sure to bring your own if cooking on anything flammable such as a picnic table.
