My girls have yet to use these in the Great Outdoors, but given they're marked with the "Insect Shield" logo, I assume they'll be as effective as any other products treated with the same process, claiming to repel insects. They're a great price and the quality & fit of the product upon on arrival was much better than what I expected, given the pictures. Be aware they are definitely fitted leggings, not loose or baggy in any way. The material is relatively thick, & you can feel that they're treated; they're not a soft spandex. I measured my girls to make sure they'd fit a large, & they do, but just barely. The surprise is that they're capris, not full-length, so I ordered an XL, in hopes that my 62' tall twins will get longer coverage from those.
