robin d.'s Review of Zamberlan Vioz GTX Backpacking Shoes - Men's
I initially bought Zamberlan 996 Vioz in 2011, and recently re-ordered the same model. I hiked approximately 7,000 trail miles before my boots degraded in the Vibram sole and in the toe area, where the GTX lacks a toe guard. Overall Zamberlan develops what appears to be a rocker sole design, which has the effect of distributing evenly foot strike force along the entire footbed, rather than focusing the strike narrowly on the forefoot area, like certain Lowa test models do. Additionally, the Zamberlan is a short break-in design, from the outset comfortable. Overall a strong recommendation.
