Evan's Review of Zamberlan Vioz GTX Backpacking Shoes - Men's

I was really looking forward to purchasing these, got them at a fair price (given the apparent reputation for comfort, quality and durability) and was excited when they arrived. Well...I tried them for less than a week, wearing them to work five days and trying them during short walks around the neighborhood. I'm a 12 D and have never had much trouble finding shoes and boots that fit. Both feet have always fit the same size boots with equal comfort. I don't require special orthotics or anything like that.

The left boot seems to fit just fine. But the right boot simply does not. I've tried thick socks, two pairs of medium socks, different types of lacing, tighter, looser, etc. The right boot just feels off. It's created and aggravated a blister on my Achilles tendon and I can't even walk, especially push off, in the boot comfortably. I've almost developed a weird limp while wearing them to try and compensate for how uncomfortable the boot fits the back of my foot.

I'm having to return them and am a bit in shock as I thought that, with care and proper resoling, I was making an up to a ten year investment. This has literally never happened before with any other shoes or boots.
