Carrying around an extra 3ozs might be excessive for some but personally this the greatest little gadget. Hard to believe how small it is! After a long day of hiking that last thing I want to do is huff-n-puff an air mattress. I have a Nemo Cosmo air pad. The therma-rest neo air will inflate it within a couple of minutes to about 85-90% of max amount of air you can put in the pad. I usually put 2-3 puffs of air in once I pull the neo air off and my pad is good to go. Before getting this pump I used to get dizzy and a headache from blowing up my pad. I gave this 5 stars because it is very small and lightweight and I'm sure would be great with the Thermarest mattress. I took a chance that it would work with my Sea to Summit sleeping pad and unfortunately it didn't work so I had to return it.
