I use the product when backpacking or car camping. Took it on an overnighter in the back country for all my cooking needs, took it to the Grand Canyon car camping to supplement our dual-burner stove and made coffee in the tent vestibule while it was snowing. I love the way it disappears into your pack, and it's fun to put together. I really can't think of any downsides.

Used w/ Trangia Stove but also with homemade alcohol stoves. Since it is a windguard and potstand all in one, it's a welcome piece of eqpt. There are other solutions I know, but this was something cheap to try. And Campsaver.com is not shy about placing it on sale from time to time. One thing, it's not very useful as a potholder unless the width of your pot's base is over 3 2/8...

I have both the Westwind and the Click-stand T-2 pot/burner stands. The Westwind is 1 oz. heavier but a whole lot less expensive so the Westwind wins hands down on that. The Westwind is slightly easier to put together and is totally flat when disassembled whereas the Click-stand has a slight curve and protruding points to support their windscreen. Both need some sort of wind sh...

After reading mostly positive reviews on the Westwing Stove I decided to give it a shot. The stove does what it is intended to do, give a solid and stable platform for your Trangia burner and pot/kettle. I like it too because it folds down flat making it easy to pack. Thus far it has worked very well for me. However, the stove is not without its flaws. Several reviews I read st...

I carried the Trangia Westwind stove for 2000 miles on the AT with never a failure of any type. Fuel is easy to get in most hardware stores as denatured alcohol or carry Everclear and fuel the cook as well as the stove.
Pros:
  • None
Cons:
  • I would like to see it brought back in a titanium version.
Best Used for:
  • long distance backpacking in above freezing temperatures.
Questions & Answers for Trangia Westwind Stove-no Burner
Q Does the flame come out with any pressure or just burn like an open flame?
A
Expert Answer

This product actually does not come with the trangia spirit stove. It is just the stand. The alcohol burners do emit a flame, but not like a canister stove. Let us know if you have any additional questions.
