I've had one of these for about a year, and as far as I'm concerned it's a "don't leave home without it" item. It charges in sunlight or from mains electricity. You can hang it from your pack to charge while you hike. It holds its charge well. Attempt to recharge cell phone and Steripen. No way to tell if this thing really works. Way to simple ergonomics. I am an Electrical Engineer. PErson who eventually answered my help request was clueless.

Q Is it weather proof meaning is it usable on a sailboat - can it get wet ...?

It can withstand a little bit of moisture and precipitation, but getting it completely soaked will not be good for it
