This product is essential if you are backpacking in bear contry. The BearVault is bomb-proof and very easy to use.. no key required.

It's also great as a camp seat.

If you are a ultra-light backpacker, it may be hard to stomach the 2 lb 9 oz weight, however it ensures your food says safe.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I just got this item BV-500 yesterday.Opened it and played around with the lid. I snap-locked it and tried to open it with only 6 fingers, I have! On my left hand, I have 5 fingers and on my right hand I have only right thumb. I Had NO Trouble at all to open and close the lid, whatsoever! Bears can't read,so I'm guessing that they will not be able to open the lid with their powerful paws!

It is little bit on a pricey side for a plastic jar, but I guess it is probably priceless in bear country. If it is gonna save my food and my life, I guess it is worth every penny.

Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
