I had to use this stove as soon as I got it. Purchased some Heet from the local store and just pored some in the stove lit it and put 2 cups of water on to boil. It is an amazing stove and the most simplistic stpove I have ever seen. It boiled water in just over 6 mins. Hiking the A.T. for over 30 yrs. i have seen about everything. When it comes to cooking on the trail i have tried about everything. Now i just grab my Trangia and go, no worries with this stove.

Bought one fiften years ago followed by another. They are so convenient that if i am not hiking solo I often bring both - one to boil water and the other for cooking morning breakfast. I have sevral other stoves that have not left my garage favoring this easy to use but durable alcohol stove. It also is quiet -- doesn't sound like you are burning jet fuel in the mornings.

I have used this stove backpacking and fishing and have been very pleased. With the simmering ring you have great temperature control for simmering or cooking fish. (you don't get that with a lot of other stoves) It is extremely lightweight and packs down very small. The westwind stove is simple yet very stable and reliable.
