Product Info for Arc'teryx Proton LT Hoody - Men's
The Proton LT Hoody is equipped with a breathable insulation package to manage the dynamic needs of mountain pursuits and perform as a self-regulating mid layer for a variety of high output activities. Breathable insulation means excess heat and moisture can pass through the combination of air permeable fabrics and insulation. In addition to being extremely air permeable, the Fortius Air 20 face fabric has unrivaled hardwearing durability, over 60 times more durable in abrasion tests than the industry standard. Coreloft Compact 80 synthetic insulation in the body maintains excellent stretch recovery. The No Slip Zip keeps the main zipper from self-opening and the helmet compatible insulated hood gives additional warmth. Put it on, leave it on and stay focused on the activity.
Redesign includes updated durable and breathable face fabric, Dope Permeair 20 liner, and utilization of Coreloft Compact 80 insulation in the body and Coreloft Compact 60 in the hood.

Proton LT is more breathable & durable than Atom LT due to Fortius 40. Its weight is about 390g(slightly heavier than Atom LT). It's good for layering in the winter. Considering sale price, it is very nice and versatile hoody.

I really like this jacket as a layering piece. More breathable than an Atom LT, and I like the cut better. The chest pocket is a nice touch that the Atom doesn't have. The Atom has 20 denier fabric; this has Fortius 40, so a more durable shell fabric too.
Like all Arcteryx stuff, it's pricey, but very well made. Full price, it's $50 more than an Atom LT or Patagonia Nano P...

Jacket is a little short overall, and I'm not that tall (about 6', 165 lbs, size L). A bit bulky and not as free moving as advertised. Synthetic filling instead of down doesn't seem like it would be warm enough for harsher fall temperatures in the 30's and lower 40's.

Proton is more durable, lighter and warmer than atom at the same time.
Gold is also too luxurious in color gold.
If you ask me to buy either Atom or Proton,
I'm going to buy a Proton.
