I went with my street shoe size and I've been very happy. These are snug but I believe they will stretch. If you want these to be comfortable out of the box, go a half size up from your street shoe size.
I've used these on all types of rock. They are great on everything! Great rubber on these.... sticky!

So far I've only used these once, so this is more for sizing: I wear 8 1/2 street shoes and ordered 9 1/2 Altura's. This is just about right for what I wanted, which is a comfortable shoe that I can keep on my feet for a while. At one full size up my toes touch the end but are not cramped.

I've been looking for a new all day comfort climbing shoe that also climbs well. Unfortunately, my feet are too big for the La Sportiva TC Pro and the Five Ten Grandstone.
