By constructing the Lifeguard without the internal spring, the Safeguard is a great tool for rescue and rigging work. It will lock onto the rope with very little force giving you the confidence that once the position of the rope is set the device will not creep or slide.

It does what it is designed for and after a little practice is smooth and consistent as a climbing aid. I have found it to be very reliable and it locks instantly when you need it to. Even with that all said I still use a secondary backup prusik knot when climbing.

I use this device to rappel out of trees while Saddle Hunting…. Very smooth and solid. I use it with a 9mm Canyon Elite Ripe with no slipping. I highly recommend this product. They were hard to find last year however they are In Stock in most places now.

I like the compact design of this device. The light weight is a plus. It releases pretty smoothly under load, and tends slack pretty easily. I use this as a work positioning lanyard when I need a second attachment point.

This is a great belay device, smaller and more solidly built than any GriGri, less expensive as well. Nice to be able to set it and let go of the brake strand when in self belay mode. The weight of the rope in conjunction with the springless design makes it very safe. The only caveat is if you want to feed out line you have to apply force to the brake release which might be con...
