Can you mate the Long/Right with the Regular/Left? I've used Regular Left/Right and they zip together fine.

Yes you can, but the long with have the top of the bag exposed. It is fine if the weather is not really cold, but if it is cold it allows cold air to get into the top of the long bag and makes for an uncomfortable night.

what size pad would I need for the regular size bag?

Thank you for your question. A regular size pad or bag will typically be 6 feet. Any regular Big Agnes bag will fit a regular sleeping pad.

The regular will accommodate a 20" sleeping pad whereas the wide will accommodate a 25" sleeping pad.

Your lifetime return policy says you can return the item within 60 days, seems like an awfully short lifetime!

"If, for any reason, you are not completely satisfied with your purchase, you may return most items within 60 days of receipt of merchandise for an exchange, store credit, or full refund. After 60 days, only new items in the original manufacturer's packaging and with all original contents included (e.g. tags, instruction manuals, accessories, and additional components) may be returned for store credit." You are still able to return things for a "lifetime", just under certain conditions for store credit. Let us know if you have any additional questions.

Is it safe to wash my Lost Ranger 15 bag in a washing machine on gentle cycle? Do you recommend any special soap? Thanks, Gary

Simple answer is yes if you have a front loading washer. Big Agnes actually provides this awesome article about bag washing: https://support.bigagnes.com/hc/en-us/articles/115003631208-Wash-Your-Bag
Some highlights:
1. Top loading washing machine only.
2. Use Nikwax Down Wash.
3. Make sure it is not still really wet when transferring from washer to dryer as you can rip baffles if it is still saturated.
4. Dry until completely dry on low until completely dry. Use tennis balls to break up down clusters while drying.

Does this big unzip all the way, so I can use it as a blanket in warmer conditions?

It does zip almost to the bottom of the bag, the zipper is 70" on the regular size. This bag is however designed with no insulation in the bottom of the bag, meant to be used with a pad for insulation on the bottom, so zipping it out like a blanket would provide half a bag with insulation, and half without.

8 x 7.5 in (Reg); 8 x 8.5 in (Long). This refers to the diameter and length respectively. It comes with a stuff sack and storage bag.
