This was an awesome breakfast with plenty of flavor! With sausage, hashbrowns, and eggs this meal is hearty. All you have to do is add water, seal the pouch, and wait 10 minutes. I'd eat this on any trip.
The liquid portion of the meal certainly has a chili flavor, but it doesn't really stick to the noodles. They can be a little bland. The texture of the beef and noodles was a a little slimy. I would certainly eat this up depending on how hungry I am, but it might not be my first choice.
The cheese cake is smooth and chocolatey, and all you have to add is 2/3 cup cold water. Great flavor. The only drawback is that the instructions suggest whipping for 2 minutes. You'd better have a long spoon if you are going to mix it in the bag like I did. You might be able to get a more consistant mixture by whipping in an outside container, but then you'll have to wash that.
I'm a big fan of sweet and sour, so this meal was right up my alley. The sauce to rice ratio is excellent with a slight kick. The rice quickly absorbs the water for a hearty meal in 13 minutes.
These eggs and beans have a great flavor, but the texture was a little grainy. Better mixing may have been in order. The instructions suggest adding water to the pouch and letting the eggs and beans sit 10 minutes for rehydration. From there you have to cook them in a separate pan. Since the pouch does not have a gusseted bottom, you have to hold it for the required time or prop against a rock.
Generally I like meals with meat, but this was rather filling for a vegetarian option. The pasta was filling, the vegitables were well hydrated, and the sauce was tasty.
The fish fillet comes in an included separate packet that you add to the pasta. Though the fish tastes great (much like a smoked kipper snack), the pasta lacks a solid flavor. If you're doing any fishing on your backpacking trip, you might be able to add more fish to the meal to give it that extra umph.
This is a great flavorful rice dish with a wonderful creamy texture. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. The chicken and rice make for a hearty meal.
