looking at the 45 L model for carry-on (airline) capability. can the hip belt and shoulder straps be removed allowing just the top handle for carrying. would the metal spine piece need to be removed as well to protect it from accidental damage? — 2 Answers

Yes, you can completely remove the harness, hip belt, and metal rod if you would like.
