Does the pen need to be touching the water to work, or is it proximity based? I'm mainly wondering how you would recommend keeping the rim of the water bottle sterile as well as the water within.

From SteriPEN's site: Misconception 5: SteriPEN Doesn’t Eliminate Microorganisms on the Threads, Rim or Lids of Bottles

Microorganisms in such small levels are rarely dangerous, however, this issue can be addressed by simply drying the water off the lid, rim and threads of the bottle with a towel, bandana, etc.

I have a quwstion on The Steripen pure+purifier. I don't see the "cartidge life" for it ? What's the cartridge life ?

Does the steripen pure+ purifier have an automatic timer?

The Steripen Pure+ does not have a specific timer. It does have a indicator light and water sensors to let you know when it is okay.

Does the 2.6 oz listed weight include the weight of 4 AA batteries?

It is without batteries. The batteries will add an additional 3.2 oz+ depending on type of battery. Let us know if you have any additional questions.

What is the difference between Steripen Pure+ Purifier and the ultra water Purifier apart from sizes? Do they work the same? Both on 1/2L water in 90s per liter?
