I wanted a shoe with support and goretex for my part time job. I am a fire fighter and wash windows part time. I need a water proof shoe when you are walking around in the grass early in the morning. I also need a hiking style shoe or a shoe with good support when you are climbing ladders all day. With out the stiffer sole your feet get trashed. So far these shoes are great, comfortable, and

AKU is a great shoe. The GTX fit great out of the box, I have a narrow foot (B). This is my 4th pair the past 10 years, (2) ankle height, (2) tennis shoe height. Used the ankle height for hunting, fishing and work. Walked all over Italy and use daily in 1st tennis shoe height. These GTX are going to Germany. Thanks AKU!!

Very Nice AKU SL Approach GTX Shoe

The AKU SL Approach GTX shoes run a bit large by probably 1/2 size but that worked out great for me. I wear a 9 1/2 USA size shoe and am at the cusp for width at the D-E range. I was very happy these shoes fit so well even though they required a little bit of a break-in for me. They are stiff but I prefer that and unlike many hiking boots or shoes, you don't have to swap out the insole as it's great too. The craftsmanship and quality of materials used are top notch and since I liked them so much, I ended up ordering another pair, even though I wished Campsaver had other colors in stock. Anyway, thumbs up for these babies and I suspect they will last a long time :o)

Aku sl approach gtx shoes - winners

always tough to buy in line for sizing. Some reviews said these were roomy in the toe area but with free shipping back no risk.
They fit perfectly with m normal size. Never seen aku brand before but very well built and solid. And as many have stated super comfortable right out of the box!! Winners!!

I bought these as a birthday present for my dad and he loves them. He's been hiking three times and says he "forgets he has new shoes on," aka, there has been no rubbing or blistering. Happy with the purchase.

Great shoe for my foot

I tried these on in a store and ended up ordering 2 pairs (GTX and regular) from Campsaver because they crushed everyone else's price. These shoes run a little large for the size which suits me fine as I wear a 13 1/2 which are just about impossible to find. I also have a very narrow foot (AA) and these fit me very well.
Love the stiffer sole on these for the support and protection. They seem very well made and will probably have a long healthy life of fun in the hills.

Shoe me the comfort!

Great shoe at a great price. Even at regular price i would still buy this shoe. nice snug fit, super comfy and stands up to endless miles. Nice and grippy sole provides great traction and even with a full pack the shoe felt solid and springy. hey you! yeah you! You need this shoe if you are in the market for a solid approach shoe!
