I don't separate during preparation. Too much fiddle factor after 10-12 hours of hiking. EZ to add water. Secret is insuring the turkey is soft. Very filling and rewarding meal after a long day. Great tasting and great way to diversify your menu!

We decided to eat thanksgiving dinner on the foothills trail (SC). This fit the bill. We cooked the potatoes in the bag and the gravy & turkey pouch in our pot. The turkey consists of small cubes in the gravy pouch. It rehydrated well.
Pros:
taste
Tasty
Cons:
Separate cooking of ingredients

Flavor was great, but if you use the amounts of water as instructed, it’ll be too thick. This applies to both the potatoes and gravy which need to be prepped separately Flavor-wise, it is a bit bland, but I bring spices anyway. This is definitely not a one pouch type of meal. All of that said, if you like turkey, mash and gravy, this is the way to go.
