Most Helpful Positive Review Alps Meramac 6 person tent review
The last tent I bought new was North Face Tadpole. I also have a Mountain Hardware sleeping bag received as a gift. Those items are old, but still have use left in them. Alps Meramac is the first new camping item I have bought in many years. Love ! It is so clean, no funny smell of paint or plastic. I was nervous about set up , another site had comments saying it was hard to set up. Put down a GOOD tarp, take off your shoes, Open both doors first , follow instructions on the tent bag. Super easy, and there was some wind the first time I set it up in backyard. The tent feels even bigg...

Poor waterproofing

by Anthony, from SC, United States Written on June 17, 2018
I've only camped in it once. I used the Alps 10x10 footprint with it. It rained and all four corners leaked at the seams. Not a lot, but enough to be annoying. Also, there is visible wear on the tent floor after one use, on a tent pad, with the foot print. Very disappointed.
Pros:
  • Ease of setup. Roomy.
Cons:
  • Water proofing
Best Used for:
  • family camping

Fantastic tent

by Darren White, Verified Owner from TX, United States Written on April 8, 2018
Use this for scouts, Indian Guides, Indian Princess and family camping. Had 1st one for years. This is my second one. Camp every other weekend in this tent. Only reason I need new One is a kid ran through door with a stick.
Pros:
  • Strong zipper and firm frame. Rain fly goes to the ground
Cons:
  • Thin floor makes it light weight but you have to be gentile with it

Great tent for the price

by Joseph Phillips, Verified Owner from GA, United States Written on March 28, 2018
I was looking for a family car camping tent for around $100. I bought this one because of it's easy setup, square footage, large doors, and great material. It really breathes well with the mesh walls and door windows. Have not had any problems on 2 trips so far this spring. The floor isn't waterproof, and was a little damp after our first trip. We used a tarp under it the 2nd trip, and everything was dry. It's not going to stand up to a heavy storm, which is why it's $100. That said, it's much better quality than a Coleman or Kelty of the same size. Very happy with the purchase.
Pros:
  • Easy Set Up
  • Breathability
  • interior size
Cons:
  • No footprint included
Best Used for:
  • Car Camping
  • good weather
Would recommend: Yes

Seems like a good tent

by Anthony, from SC, United States Written on February 7, 2018
So far I've only used it in fair weather, but it has a lot of features I like for the price. I would prefer aluminum poles, but I was happy to see that the fiber glass poles are very thick. I don't think they will break without doing something foolish to them. The double doors with zip up windows allow for good ventilation, as does the pole that lifts and arches the fly above the doors. Set up was intuitive. Seems like a good overall buy.
Pros:
  • two doors
  • Thick poles
  • Clips onto poles
Cons:
  • Fiber glass poles.
Best Used for:
  • Families
  • Spring through fall

Tent

I am looking for a tent where all the mesh areas are covered by a zippered cover for warmth. It looks like this one has open mesh sides but I can't tell for sure.
