Love these shoes. I have the La Sportiva Wildcats, the Nike Air Zoom Wildhorse 3's and these Lone Peak 2.5's from Altra. Trying to find the best shoes for the longer backpacking trips I'm planning. I love the zero drop and the large toe box on the Altras. And I usually wear Dirty Girl gators so the gator "trap" permanent Velcro on these was a really convenient and nice touch. I've been wearing all three pairs of shoes alternately and find them all very comfortable with almost nothing to complain about. I like the rigidity of the La Sportivas. But I much prefer the zero drop of the Altras. I took the Nike Wildhorse 3's on the Rae Lakes Loop and didn't even notice my feet the whole time. They were exceptionally comfortable even when wet after a few stream crossings. I'm
Looking forward to more "testing" of the Altras. They are next up for a high Sierra trip.

This is a great trail shoe or even for light backpacking, with a caveat. Wonderful comfort. Really! Until you get on a wet surface with rocks. Then it becomes and ice skate. Slick. Slides.
There is no carbon formulated into the sole and it does not grip on wet.
There is a new model Olympus with a new sole by Vibram supposedly with better grip and even more comfort at a lighter weight. I have now ordered it, but not tried it yet.
Also, the shoes is designed for uphill and downhill, but not for lateral/traverse hikes off trail. If you have your foot perpendicular to the fall line, there is no support and the shoe will roll. You toes will not like it.

great trail running shoes, very comfortable shoes, quite lightweight, great traction. But it is kicking off more dust onto my ankles compared to other shoes. One piece of upper "decal" on the arch on the mesh had partially come off, repaired with some tenacious tape
