This review is based off what Altra's Features they offer on their website.
Footshape Toe Box - They claim that the toes are able to relax and spread out naturally to maximize stability and power. I'd say that from running in these shoes I would agree. I think that their toe box allows for a more natural running experience. My toes never fill confined, and able to stay relaxed or a smooth foot placement. This feature is awesome when it comes to doing ultra runs.
Grade: A+
Zero Drop Platform- Claim is the heel and forefoot are the same distance from the ground for a natural alignment and low-impact. I support this claim. Having an even distance between foot and heel is a great feature because it is my foot, legs, glutes that is doing the work. Some shoes with that do not have the zero drop give me a bumbling feeling when running on trails. The same can be said about my impact. Because of the zero drop I don't have a false sense of how my feet are impacting the ground- giving me true feedback.
Grade: A+
Gaiter Trap- A system to hook gaiters to shoes to prevent dirt and debris out. I've personally never used this so I can't give any opinion on them.
Guratread- Claim to the outsole rubber will last long and offer great grip on both tame and technical terrain. I'm not sure that I'd agree with this.
