Arcterix Alpha FL

by Up for anything, from MA, United States Written on November 21, 2020
This jacket is lightweight and highly breathable! It is easy to pack and these were exactly the features I was looking for! I recently wore the jacket on a canoe trip with torrential downpours and no problems. For colder weather, I like to layer with a vest or fleece so that you are ready for anything. The zippers and pockets are excellent to provide a safe place for your cellular phone etc.
Best Used for:
  • fishing
  • Fishing and all outdoor activities

Nice Jacket

by Nu Moon, Verified Owner from PA, United States Written on May 7, 2020
This is a great jacket. Really well made with high quality fabric and all the seams feel really tough and bomber. I can be unintentionally hard on my outdoor gear but this feels like it will withstand the test of time and my crazy lifestyle.

It's light, but the sleeves are a little long. It's a nice color, rainy weather is more convenient, do not take umbrella, like outdoor clothes, get ready to go hiking in warmer weather. I hope it surprises me

Best Gore-Tex Pro Jacket

by xl, Verified Owner from VA, United States Written on March 21, 2019
Love this super light, waterproof jacket! Perfectly designed and fit well. I used it for snowboarding, hiking, mountaineering and it hasn’t let me know. The only thing I wish differently is the cut, it is a little bit short for a powder day, better to couple with a bib if you plan to use it for skiing/snowboarding.
Pros:
  • waterproof
  • Light
Cons:
  • None

It lives up to its reputation

by Clayton Webber, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on March 17, 2019
Major gear reviewers all give this thing the top spot for alpine hardshells, it lives up to that. Its just a slightly heavier weather proofing than my OR interstellar that it layers perfectly with an R1 in less than ideal conditions. Its sized to wear an a puffy underneath or over depending on conditions. The cuffs are better than my interstellar as well as having a wholly velcro closure instead of velcro and elastic. the downsides are cost. If you can afford it, this thing isnt hype its really almost perfect.Works great as ski jacket for bluebird days as well.
Pros:
  • Fit
  • Function
  • weight
  • Hood
  • cuffs
Cons:
  • Expensive
Best Used for:
  • FL alpinism
  • moutaineering

Lightweight pant performant

by K, from NY, United States Written on November 26, 2018
Lightweight and does what it says it does without too many bells and whistles. Took it out for a overnight hiking trip in -10F, the zippers worked amazing well, unlike my Patagonia bibs where the zippers are hard to sldie

Arcteryx Alpha FL

by Kirikos, Verified Owner from NY, United States Written on June 12, 2018
Great jacket. Tried other brands but Arcteryx beats them in quality of design, simplicity and workmanship. I would like to have under arm zips for that jacket to be ideal. Lightweight and functional.
Pros:
  • lightweigh, quality design and workmanship
Cons:
  • No underarm zips. Price.

Usual Arcteryx quality and attention to detail, great fit

by chaz44, from NJ, United States Written on April 17, 2018
I'll preface it by saying I haven't put it through the ringer yet. I'm still on the fence about keeping it, but it's based on personal preference on style, nothing to do with quality or performance of the jacket. I own a lot of Arcteryx garments, and this jacket is right up there in terms of fit and quality. I love that it's really lightweight and minimal. I have a very slender build, 5' 7" and weigh around 130 - 132 lbs. I find my Beta AR in XS to fit great (with layering underneath), a little boxy, but great for winter sports or just walking around town. The Alpha FL is trimmer, definitely not baggy but does allow for a light layer underneath. One of the reasons why I love the Beta AR is that the jacket has a neck collar. The Alpha FL doesn't, I know this won't bother most people.
Pros:
  • Build quality
  • Fit, comfort, performance
Cons:
  • None

I used to have a hard jacket,When it rains, I can use it as a raincoat. It protects me when I exercise outdoors.it has been with me for many years, this is also my favorite, it will give me better protection,,The colour is not my favourit but it is the best.I'd like to buy another one if I have the chance.
