Walt P's Review of Arc'teryx Beta AR Pant - Men's

I have never been able to justify anything more than $20 rain pants from Wal-Mart for the dry climate of Utah. Then, I got a job in Juneau, Alaska with annual precipitation of around 90" of rain and 240 days of rain. I was a zipline guide and was getting sick of getting soaked everyday, so I bought the bullet and bought these bad boys because of the claims people have said about Arc'Teryx gear being super durable and very functional. They did not disappoint. The fit is amazing, they are articulated and 3-D cut, which is very flattering(cool looking in my opinion), but also super nice for the active movements during guiding. They felt comfortable to wear over my Stretch Zion, base layers, or just in my skivvies when it was warmer(and raining...like it always did). After guiding 90 days in a harness with these, I washed them once I got back to Utah and re-DWR'd them. They looked pretty much brand new, no abrasion or knicks from surface fabric. Then, I used them for backcountry skiing, resort skiing, hiking, and biking. The second year guiding they finally showed some pilling form the harness lines probably about 150 days of guiding, so very understandable. They are still waterproof and my go-to rain pants. If you are debating, just do it! Totally worth the price, I stayed totally dry in days with 2"+ rain.
