have the larger bear vault as well and got this smaller one for shorter trips cause the price was right on campsaver. i prefer bear containers because the last thing i want to do after a long hike in is find a suitable tree to do a hang on, and if you are above the tree line then good luck without one. plus, these double as a stool and are clear, which i like. tough, easy enough to open, and straight sided. this size is easier to get into a backpack as well. for 2 people, in general, i would say get the bear vault 500 instead of this (its amazing how fast these things fill up) but for quick trips, this is great. NP approved
