Best All-Around for Tough Terrain

by JMB, Written on April 3, 2014
I buy elliptic for best durability. Round poles simply bend eventually on tough terrain. Shock absorption is ok. Flick-locks work great.

Trekking poles that CAN trek

by The Mongoose, Written on April 3, 2014
These trekking poles are bombproof!! they are heavier than some of their counterparts but they more than make up for this with durability and comfort. The handle on the poles is brilliant I really like the extended grip when climbing up over rocks and such without adjusting the length of the pole. The elliptical shafts look heavy and bulky but visual impressions are very wrong they pack well and w

Top of the Line

by El Supremo, Written on September 10, 2011
I use Black Diamond Poles in all four seasons. The patented flick-locks are the best and easiest to use. More great German engineering. The elliptics are the strongest. That strength is needed in winter when slips and falls are more common. The shock aspect is new for me, and I was surprised to find it a definite improvement over the non-shock contour elliptics. It really does reduce vibration

Poles that work!

by Treebeard, abou, Written on September 10, 2011

Fifty-four kilometres and over two kilometres up and down and the poles did not self shorten, break or pull apart. The other two brands would have broken or failed many times over. In fact my walking mate had two Komperdell and they pulled apart and when he stumbled lightly they bent ove

Great for Mountain Hiking

by Susan the Mount, Written on September 10, 2011
These poles were used for day hikes in the mountains at Glacier National Park. They really added stability on the steep climbs and I appreciated the shock feature on the way down. The wrist straps are soft and comfortable and it is very easy to lengthen and shorten them. They easily fit in my large suitcase for the trip out to Glacier.

solid performers

by Gordo, Written on February 7, 2010
my previous BD Spire elipticals are fine- but oddly noisy. These are perhaps an ounce heavier, but also have the shocks. And those shocks are really functional and unobtrusive. These poles are rock solid- they don't flex or pogo stick at all. The flexlocks are really solid. Campsaveer offered these at an amazing price too. Thanks.
