Most Helpful Positive Review Good light
Very nice light overall for backpacking and around the house. My only complaint that there are way too many options and combos of lighting. You should keep the instructions for the patterns of light. Lightweight

Love the dimming ability

by idahobrad, Verified Owner from ID, United States Written on September 15, 2020
Went backpacking recently with my new headlamp and loved the ability to dim the white and use the red. That way I didn't blind my camp mates. When out in the wilderness with nothing but stars, bright lights are a faux pas.

Another nice lamp from Black Diamond

by J, from CA, United States Written on July 7, 2020
I have four Black Diamond headlamps, this is not a water or dustproof model. The back does not close very well where the battery is held, but these headlamps last very well despite the lack of any sealing

Reasonably bright, lightweight and good power management

by Vinsky, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on June 26, 2020
First off I know this isn't the brightest headlamp in the world, it's listed as 200 lumens, I think the BD Storm is 400. That being said the Cosmo met or exceeded my expectations.

I broke this in on a backpacking trip to Los Padres National Forest. We got a late start and had about 2 miles of night hiking to get to the campsite, I had no problems navigating the trail which was overgrown in many places. We arrived in camp around 10PM and I stayed up until about midnight using the light in low mode which isn't too blinding for your campmates. When I woke up in the morning I found that my headlamp was on, I'm assuming all night. It still had plenty of power for the rest of the trip although it seemed like it would auto dim to save power. I even had enough juice to use it car camping the next weekend. I recommend the Cosmo, it's served me well.
Pros:
  • Price, features, lasts long
Cons:
  • Not as bright as some

The only head lamp for me

by Daniel Cunningham, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on March 21, 2020
I have now bought a total of 5 of these headlamps and as long as they keep making them I’ll keep buying them. Bright, light weight and comfortable to wear. Great lighting, distance and with multiple brightness choices including a red light I couldn’t ask for much more.

Good headlamp

by Me, from PA, United States Written on July 19, 2019
This headlamp worked great for night hiking. The brightness is good, the adjustable light is a good feature and the red light came in handy at camp. The only downside is that there are so many lighting possibilities you have to red the instructions and memorize how to make it turn on white or red lighting, adjust brightness and if it should strobe or not.

Ive tried these headlights and I’m never going back to another brand! This is my 3rd pair I’ve purchased. Absolutely love Black Diamond. Uses: Camping, road trips, standard use around the house, etc. I highly recommend getting yourself a pair (or a few) of their headlights.

It's a terrific head lamp and exactly the tool I needed to safely navigate through icy conditions on Mammoth Mountain. My Microspikes were also essential.
