Great pack, but sizing not very accurate

by BryceU, Verified Owner from CA, United States Written on June 30, 2023
I own a Duffel 42 that I use as my gym climbing bag and love it. I wanted to grab the grab 40 as a smaller cragging pack and it fits the bill nicely. The hip belt and shoulder straps are comfortable enough to carry most daily needs. The big pocket for a book also works great for stashing snacks, keys, etc. The internal pocket is too small to be functional for much, but I typically throw my crack gloves in there. The full-body zipper is great for accessing stuff that gets thrown in the bottom of the pack and the top-loading design is a must. Overall this is a great lighter-weight day cragging pack.

My main complaint is the sizing.. According to the chart I'm right in between a S/M and a M/L. I tried to S/M first and it was jokingly small, felt like a child's backpack. I then opted for the M/L and even though I'm on lowest end of the range, it almost feels too small still. I would not recommend this pack for anyone taller than myself (5'10") as the hipbelt will ride very high.
Pros:
  • Lightweight
  • functional
Cons:
  • sizing is off
Best Used for:
  • Rock climbing
  • Day cragging
  • Cragging
Would recommend: Yes

Great lightweight but durable crag bag.

Great bag for the price. Holds a double rack, 60m rope, shoes, and helmet easily. It gets a bit tight if I throw in #5s and #6s, but I can't fault the bag for that. It's plenty durable for regular runs to the crag but is not as burly as a haul bag, if you want that just buy a haul bag. Definitely not a bag that you would want to wear while climbing and while durable I don't know that it would do well being dragged on a granite slab. Overall great for hauling your gear to the crag for a day of running multiple shorter routes.
Pros:
  • Easy to access inside
  • Roomy and well made
Cons:
  • None
Best Used for:
  • climbing
