I would rather write a review after I’ve had a chance to use actually use the headlamp, but my first impression is positive.
However, everything I read about it not being user friendly is true. I can turn it on out of the box and find the different colors. That’s all. I cannot figure out how to get the distance beam and other features to work and it did not come with these instructions. I am going to have to go to Blackdiamond’s website to get this figured out.

My daughter has a Coast headlamp. It is light and easy to use. She also uses her phone for her camera and gets great pictures while I use a full-size rugged camera. This is my first headlamp and was afraid of attracting nighttime bugs. After trying to walk with a lamb under each arm and a light between my knees, I decided to take her suggestion and try a headlamp. I have worn it once and it was awesome to have my hands free and too cold out for any nighttime bugs. Once I figure out how the distance beam and how the different colors work I think I’m really going to like it. If the bugs come after me it will be no worse than having a flashlight in my hand. I will just take it off my head and use it in my hand. She has had no problem with bugs and I have read that the red light will not attract them.
