Bought 20 of these for the Scout Troop after researching a lot, wanted soothing to hold up to abuse. They have more or less, especially when set up right. After a few years, I just bought my own so I don't risk getting a fart or puke tent from their stash.
Yeah, I bought the optimus bottle. The child lock cap keeps the kids out. Problem is, it keeps me out too, the thing's broken. I only bought the bottle because the description on an optimus stove led me to believe that it didn't come with its own bottle, which turned out to be wrong, so I don't need this thing anyway. Need to find a way to get rid of it. By the way, the bottle that came with the stove has the stupid child lock cap as well, and that one opens fine. I'll reserve my comments on how useless the child lock is for now and just say that adding complexity to something that WORKS FINE ALREADY is never a good idea. Thanks engineers.
This was a great purchase. I've had many such stoves, and this one's a real winner. Only time will tell if it holds up, but it feels rugged yet simple.
The white gas function worked great, simmer and all. The iso-pro fuel canister did burn without needing to change a jet, but not that well. It's functional, but I'd stick with liquid fuel.
