great for soggy and muddy winter hikes

Picked these up because of the Gore-tex and have been very happy thus far. A little stiff new, but 10 or so miles in, and they feel great and nicely broken in. Usually a Merrell fan, but now when buying new trekkers, I need to give another look to Salomon.

Needed some footwear for the snow that was a little burlier than my gtx trekkers, so that crampon and snowshoe straps wouldn't be as uncomfortable when tightened. Furthermore, I wanted something that went up on the ankle to provide more support. The problem though, is that I've never been a boot fan. Loved this thing out of the package. Lightweight, extremely packable, and once inflated, very comfy. Side sleeper here, and my foam pad wasn't enough for my hip bones.
