I like it that the top pouch, waist band, and even the inner back panel can be removed to save weight. The already light pack is ideal for all-terrain and multi-day backpacking trip. It feels very thin but yet durable. Hard to imagine that this is a 60L but it can stuff a lot!
I have chosen this brand due to the fit. I always order 1-2 size larger because this allows more space for feet to wiggle in rough terrains. The larger size still fit well and comfortable. So far this is my 5th La Sportiva
This is the shoe I have been looking for: mid ankle, GTX, mountain climbable/runnable. And it comes with built-in studs! I have handled almost any terrains from sand to snow; on and off trails, and even summit with snowshoe and crampons on! GTX is the way to go to avoid unwanted elements from hours and miles of trekking. Feet stay relatively clean and dry. My favorite part is after taking socks off, feet always feel great and CLEAN!
Originally bought for the mid ankle with waterproof, or RSM. Wanted a GTX but this looks marketable enough to try it out. The toe box is wider, as is Altera's selling point. However the shoe is a bit stiff like soft plastic instead of fitting and cushioning. I guess some break-in's will soften the fit. My wife has a wider toe box with some degree of bunion. After she tried it, she took over the shoes and start to wearing it on her tougher mountain hikes and running. Well, so much is my trying out of Altera's 0mm drop. It's a great shoe to be on and off trail. My wife said she feels confident with shoes on all terrains and now she kicks my butts on more technical sections of trails.
