Now that I bought 2 of this style in long-sleeves to go with the 4 short-sleeve of the same style I have, they are my year-round shirt. I get them a size larger than I need to so they function as a shirt and not underwear. I’ve tried other brands, but I prefer the Smartwool NTS Micro 150 for style and warmth. Amazingly, they work well in the hot summer, too, by wicking away perspiration and actually helping to keep me cool. I hike several days a week, and have decided to use them for in-town daily wear, too. You never know when I might need to go on a hike!
These down pants are a major improvement over the synthetic puffy pants I have used in the past for backpacking. They are warmer and they pack down smaller. Excellent quality in the workmanship. Glad I splurged and got them.
These pants are filling the need I hoped they would - comfortable, sturdy pants for hiking, yet nice enough to wear in town when jeans just don't cut it. The one drawback is the sizing. They are truly at least one size too big, for some odd reason. Thank you Campsaver for making the exchange go smoothly. Plus, even with a size that fit, I still needed to stitch two darts in the waist band. This was not a problem, and I do like the pants.
I've tried many rain jackets, and so far this is my favorite. It's lightweight, packs small when not in use, breathes well, and of course keeps me dry. I appreciate the breathability the most, because I'm not getting wet internally from perspiration as I hike. It will get a lot of use here in the Pacific NorthWet!
