Another great recipe from Mountain House. Not too sweet, not too sour, but just right. As always, add about an 1/8 to 3/8 less water than suggested so the dish is not watery. Let it sit for at least 10 minutes before opening it up to eat.

Typical Salomon Comfort
Written on Feb 09, 2018
I own MANY Salomon brand shoes and boots. I LOVE them for my feet.
A couple gripes on these though: One, the speed laces cinch down over the little pocket the laces and cinch mechanism are supposed to be tucked into so its a pain to pull the tongue up and out to be able to tuck them in that pouch. Two, the tongue is connected to the inside of the shoe all the way down to the soles so it is difficult to perform number one and get your foot into the shoe.
Despite these, they are well cushioned and comfortable with a very secure fit. These are for road/pavement running, NOT off road, so ignore other reviews that bash these for off road performance as these are not intended for that.
Other than that, they feel great on my feet as all Salomon shoes do. I love the Ortholite inserts. Those make the difference for me. I have a pair of Lowa Vantage boots and their inserts are good for people with flat feet, as there is no arch support in them in at all. I put in a pair of the Ortholites from my Salomon boots and problem solved. And I don't have abnormally high arched feet. My arches are normal. Great shoes for me. Your opinion may differ. Try the Salomon's out for yourself.

Outstanding!

This is a great meal! If you have had their Biscuits and Gravy and love that then you will love this too. Essentially this tasted very much like the old Marie Calendar's Chicken Pot Pies--but mashed up in a pouch! Flavor and texture was absolutely fantastic. The key to Mtn House meals is do not add too much water, maybe just a 1/8 of a cup less than what they recommend on the directions, mix it really well, let it sit in the pouch for 5 minutes, mix again, sit for another 5 min. I have followed this with all their items and I don't experience what some others have with "too watery" or "texture was not right," etc. Food taste is subjective but this was a home run for me.

Very good but not Great
Written on Apr 25, 2016
I have last year's version of this shirt and this one. They both have their pros and cons. The newest version is a bit more silkier feeling, smoother on the skin, and may stretch just a tad more. I don't like the fact that instead of a snap button closure for the sleeves when you roll them up, they now have a button you have to weave through the fabric like a traditional button up shirt. This is much more tedious than just having to loop the cloth through the loop on the upper part of the shirt and then snapping two buttons together. This shirt also stays wrinkled. Only way to get them out is by an iron. Just washing and drying them won't even make a dent. Overall good shirt, but not perfect. I would probably buy another.

Great Headlamp

Review for
Princeton Tec Quad Tactical LED Headlamp
This headlamp works really well with 4 lights that illuminate. It "floods" rather than focuses one single beam in a very narrow direction. It is plenty bright too. If you are navigating at night, you could easily see 10-15 yards in front of you. I love the integrated red filter cover too, for night vision retention. Works great if you want to read a book at night with no other light. I actually purchased 2 of these on clearance and feel like a I stole them!

Review for
Aku Transalpina GTX Hiking Boot - Mens
I have yet to wear these hiking so this review is a little early, but my initial impressions were that these boots are of exceptional quality. I bought a pair for my wife, looked those over and decided that since the model was on clearance at a great price I bought a pair for myself.
Boot fits true to size. Has great arch support. It is stiff however, but I attribute that to the way the boot is made with that exo-skeleton type of footbed just above the sole. I'm certain that they will break in quickly. No ankle rolling in these boots and no feeling rocks or ruts through the sole. I would highly recommend you try them out--especially if you can find them on clearance like I did.

Review for
MSR Reactor Stove System
I was able to boil cold tap water in less than 1 minute and 15 seconds. Nice and compact, lightweight, able to hold the larger 8 oz fuel can and seems pretty bullet proof. This was my first compact hiking/backpacking stove and I decided to pull the trigger on the best one that I found from all the research and reviews I read. Buy cheap, buy twice. I like to buy once. This one delivered.
