I think highly enough of my first Exped tent that it was a no brainer when I decided it was time to phase out my old 3 man camper and replace it with another tent by Exped. It’s maiden outing was a perfect test: hours of non-stop downpour accompanied by heavy gusting winds. Not so much as a whimper! The large entrances made it easy to get in and out of quickly. The interior space belies it’s actual size and the interior features: hanging loops and side pockets are numerous and useful. The Gemini has been around for quite a while, now, but the design remains well ahead of the vast majority of others without being the least bit complicated or over engineered. Also, I love that when it’s nice outside, but there’s a chance of rain, you can unclip one side of the fly and roll back to expose a full half of the tent and still be quickly returned to full coverage with two quick connections. All in all, a fantastic tent that goes up and comes down quickly, packs easily, is lightweight and very well designed.
This is the best pack I’ve ever owned in over 30 years of hiking! The build quality is tremendous: typical of all my Exped gear. It’s light, but solidly built. I haven’t had long enough to assure it’s long term capability. I did have a chance to load up for a short two day trip. It carried the load (approx 25#) effortlessly! I love the webbing for external carry, as well as the ability to access numerous ways. I do wish it had hip belt pockets, but I’ll add. ‘Nuff said. Looking forward to many journeys with this pack.
The jacket is true to size and very light. Having worn it in everything from standard rain to wind-driven sideways downpour mixed with snow and sleet, it is definitely waterproof and windproof. The latter condition being in the low 30's (f) required the jacket be worn over multiple layers yielding no discernible build-up of condensation! A GoreTex fabric that actually breathes!
It remains to be seen if it will be as rugged/long-lasting as I would like, but definitely shows all the signs of being "as described!"
