Easy to install, provides a nice stiffening to the plastic support found in the pack. Have not added enough weight to pack yet to detect differences in carry capacity with the aluminum stay, but I expect the claim of stay allowing for an extra 8 lbs to be added to be true just on how it stiffens the plastic support top to bottom and across the pack. I took the pack lid off and some extra straps and buckles I would not use to compensate for the added weight of the stay so I am happy with the crown 3 and stay purchase at the discounted price I paid for a pack close to 2 lbs.
I like the fabric nice looking and stretchy. I have big calves so when standing up at times the fabric will catch and I have to pull it down a little, secondly although I do like the adjustment belt, I typically wear a belt so it gets a little difficult to get a belt through the belt loop nearest the pant's adjustment belt. I think I like my prAna Brion pants better for fit and feel but we will see how these hold up over time.
