nice little stove

Written on Sep 29, 2016

This is actually the second one I've bought. The first one I purchased maybe 5 or 6 years ago and has gotten a lot of use. It was just time to replace.

I bring this stove for basic water boiling and simmering. I use a different stove if I want to fry fish with a skillet, or use a windscreen, or snow camp.

Nice light basic canister stove.

not as nonstick as I'd hoped

Written on Sep 09, 2016

I fried a couple of brook trout with olive oil in this pan. Cleanup was messy and had to employ a scraper. Going back to nonstick skillets for frying. Would probably work better if I put the trout in foil, so might try that.

Stiff and light

Written on May 05, 2014

Lugged vibram sole, stiff for backpacking, decent ankle support. Comfortable and fairly light for what they are.

There is enough stitching to worry about durability, but I applied some seam sealer to protect the threads against abrasion (bushwhacking/cross-country/scree). I don't expect them to last as long as full-grain leather boots, but they don't weigh as much either.

My feet measure 9.5 U

Nice crack shoes

Written on Dec 12, 2013

Stiff shoes for crack climbing. Not as stiff end-to-end as my dying Acopa JB's, but pretty stiff across the toe.
